Mark Titchner - "Now for Reality"

10 March - 30 April 2011
Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art - Project Space
Curator: Artemis Potamianou

Mark Titchner, one of the most established young british artists, presents a series of works, especially designed for Thessaloniki and the MMCA Project Space. The collaboration between the MMCA and the National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation creates a network of centrally located spaces, where the public can get acquainted with the work of contemporary artists.
Titchner creates a personal idiom and lets the viewer decide on how he wants to decipher it. Through his work, he touches upon issues relevant to the super-abundant information we daily receive and their truth, and he questions the blind obedience to science, religion and the political establishment.
"A main quality of his reflection and a feature recurrent in his work, is the negotiation of the rapport between artistic work and the public. Titchner experiments on this and materializes a step-by-step interactive relationship with the viewer." (Artemis Potamianou)
